The Sand Dollar Legend
The legend of the Sand Dollar, or Holy Ghost Shell, is as old as the Bible. The top side is said to outline the Easter lily. For those varieties that have holes, the four holes are said to reveal four holes of suffering with the fifth hole as the spear going through the body of Christ during the Crucifixion. When the shell is broken, inside the shell are little pieces of shell shaped like doves of peace.
